How to use a mouse
The first skill is learning to POINT & CLICK the mouse. Sliding the mouse on the desk moves the cursor (flashing | ) on the screen. Just rest your hand on the mouse, move it slowly around the mouse pad, and see what happens to the arrow on the screen.
To CLICK means to gently, but quickly, press & release the left mouse button with your index finger while keeping your hand on the mouse.
Try this:
POINT the mouse arrow at
this icon (picture)
and notice that the arrow changes to a pointing hand. This indicates that the icon links, (connects), to another Web page. While pointing, CLICK the left mouse button to follow that link.
If the arrow or pointing hand changes to an hourglass after you click, do NOT click again. The computer is searching, please wait.
