Remarks: The Transportation Records Database holds a wide range of records relating to the transportation of convicts from Ireland to Australia covering the period 1788 - 1868. The records are held on microfilm reels located at GM36 in the Library's Genealogy Centre. This internet site links the name index to the microfilm records. The index is searched for the entires that contain any combination of the words/text you enter. It should be noted that the records relate to people in Ireland being tried in Ireland and sentenced to transportation to Australia. It does not necessarily follow that all those sentenced left Ireland or were sent to an Australian penal colony.
